Frequently Asked Questions
What is concierge medicine?
Concierge medicine offers personalized care that’s convenient when you and your family when you need it. We’re responsive in person, on the phone, and online, giving you the unhurried time needed to treat your medical issues or discuss health concerns. When you call our office, you talk to a person and not a phone tree. We have minimal waiting times. We know your time is valuable and we work hard to accommodate your schedule!
How is concierge medicine different from direct primary care?
Our concierge-style practice allows plenty of time to get to know you, your family, and your medical needs. Your care team is up to date with what is going on outside of our office and you don’t have to re-explain your situation to several different people. We also have a smaller volume of patients to focus on. Direct primary care (DPC) doesn’t bill your insurance and usually has a fee-for-service menu, with or without an additional monthly fee. These practices usually have a higher volume of patients, don’t assist with coordination of your care, and have shorter appointments than you would have with a concierge practice.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept most major insurances and Medicare. If you have a deductible and/or copay as part of your medical plan, you will still be responsible for those costs. If you have questions about if your specific plan is in-network with us, please call the office and we’d be happy to check eligibility.
How often can I see the physician?
As often as you like! We work hard to get you in the same day or the next day with your primary physician. Most weekdays, there is also a nurse practitioner available. All lab draws and injection appointments can generally be scheduled same day.
How long are your appointments?
Your first visit with your physician is 90 minutes. Subsequent appointments are traditionally 60 minutes, with sick visits at 30 minutes. Lab and injection appointments are traditionally less than 15 minutes.
How long can I expect to wait in the office?
We pride ourselves on running an efficient office. Most of our patients wait in our waiting room for less than 5 minutes and most are taken back to a room as soon as they are checked in.
What happens if I have an emergency?
You can always reach us at the office or via your physician’s cell phone number. If you have a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately. If you have questions about your current medical condition and need help determining the most appropriate level of care, please call and speak with one of our staff members. We try to do everything possible to keep you out of Urgent Care or the emergency room.
Who covers for the doctor if he goes on vacation?
One of our physicians and our nurse practitioner will always be available for visits if you have an urgent need while your physician is out of the office. If necessary, we have the option to evaluate you for a tele-health appointment with your traveling physician.
Can I use my HSA or FSA for the annual membership fee?
Some companies allow the use of HSA or FSA funds to cover the concierge fee. We recommend reaching out to your specific carrier to determine if you qualify.
Can I meet the physician before joining the practice?
Absolutely! We offer a 30-minute complimentary “Meet and Greet” with your potential physician. This can usually be scheduled within 2-5 business days and allows you time to meet the physician and our staff and see our office.
What is the annual membership fee?
We offer several different membership options, and we are flexible with our payment structure. Please call us directly to determine which option is the best fit for you and your family. Your fee is prorated based on when you sign up during the year.
